| Georgetown Students Volunteer at Me to We Event |
This past week, the IB Student League,
Social Justice League and the Prime Minister of GDHS had the privilege
of volunteering at Me to We day in Toronto. GD HS
students were on chaos control for most of the morning, registering
16,000 students and teachers attending the event and collecting canned
goods for the North York Harvest Food Bank. The volunteers represented
Georgetown students very well through their hard work. Later that
day the volunteers had the opportunity to watch inspirational speakers
such as Robert Kennedy Jr., Paul Martin and the founders of Me to
We, Craig and Marc Kielburger. Special guests included the Jonas
Brothers, the cast of Degrassi and Hedley, making the day a rock concert
for social change. Embodying the Me to We spirit, the message of the
performers and guests was the same: together youth can make a change.
