Math Clinic

In addition to out of class help provided by Math Teachers, GDHS runs a math clinic. Students experiencing difficulties with their Math, or simply need a place to complete homework, are welcome to drop by. The clinic runs:

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Room 238 = Period 3 = 12:09 p.m.
Room 238 = Period 4 = 1:26 p.m.

GRADE 9 MATH REMEDIATION
In November, we would like to start a grade 9 math remediation
program after school. Students will review math concepts e.g. integers, decimals, percents and fractions) and become more comfortable with Math. They will also get help with the mathematical concepts and skills they are having difficulty with in their classes. Students are welcome to attend who are struggling in their current math course or are taking math next semester and have had previous difficulties with this subject.

Study Hall
This year, we have instituted a study hall where students can catch up on incomplete work. Teachers will be booking students into the hall when they have serious concerns about a student. Parents will often contact about study hall related issues.
At present, the hall is running every day, in the following periods:
Room 106 = Period 3 = 12:09 p.m.
Room 106 = Period 4 = 1:26 p.m.

Literacy Test Remediation
GDHS is planning an after school literacy test remediation program.
In order to properly plan for this program, we require students! During this program, students will review concepts and practice skills that will help them with writing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test on Thursday April 8, 2010. Grade 10 and 11 students who have struggled with literacy skills or who were unsuccessful on the OSSLT last year, would greatly benefit from this program.

Study Skills Sessions
Is your Grade 9 and 10 student having difficulty studying for quizzes, tests and exams? Come to our study skills sessions to learn important concepts and habits that will help students study more effectively.

Grade 9 Snack and Study
On January 7th, Link crew leaders will be hosting a SNACK AND STUDY session to help students to prepare for their exams. Students will be given information on study skills as well as help with individual subjects. They will also be served refreshments and snacks to keep them motivated.
